The creator of artphototravel.net, a retired astrophysicist and nuclear scientist, created this interesting site to showcase pictures from a life of travel and photography, to provide useful information to other photography-minded travellers, and not incidentally, to promote a book pf travel photographs with the working title MOMENTS.
The website’s underlying philosophy might be summed up thus:
During the early years the journey was as important as the destination, but over the decades travel became a chore. So nowadays to achieve the same level of wonderment requires an informed choice of destination and the know how to be at the right spot at the right time.
Under Best Places, the author includes five sites from Japan: snow monkeys, cormorant fishing, the Nikko Grand Spring Festival (samurai on horseback), sumo wrestling, and the Onbashiri (still in the works).
Good stuff. Worth checking out! http://www.artphototravel.net
